Vid card comparison

My trusty, ancient Radeon 9800 Pro finally gave up the ghost. I could replace it for about 85.00 US but I'm thinking of replacing it with a Geforce 6800XT 256MB

Yes twice the Ram and a nice price of 135.00 US. Is it twice the video card?


I'll be building a PCI e setup shortly and I'll throw a 6800GT in that one. But for now, the machine with the XT card will serve it's purpose until it's replaced with the new system and the old one becomes, with a few tweaks my HTPC.

mklangelo, I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Maybe it would be better if you simply stated what your budget was and whether you're looking for an AGP or PCI-E card.

Both the 9800Pro and 6800XT are "old news ". You might be able to find a more modern card that fits your price range...6800GS? 7600GT? Again I'm not exactly sure what bus you're looking for.

Three days ago, the ATI clearance center was selling new X850 Pros for only $119 + $20SH. What an eye-popping deal - it was making my mousing hand twitch.

 

It's an AGP vid card I'm looking for and the price range I'm dealing with is about 150.00 US. I do know that the 9800 Pro and the 6800 XT are old news. Just not in need of a top end vid card just yet.
