I try to enable it for my second ethernet jack because i want to connect my other computer thru here.

The other computer is set to DHCP.

This computer is on a Static IP with the router.

    pontiaclover--Those are Windows "Services ".
In WinXP, Start|Run|type services.msc|OK. The next window will allow you to see (in the Startup Type column whether these services are Manual, Automatic or Disabled. You change the status by right clicking and choosing from the dropdown list. I think Manual is the default for both. The same procedure will allow you to Start the service.
I suspect Win2000 is the same, but cannot be sure.

Why are they set static ? I have everything set on auto.

If you do indeed have a Router there should be no need for sharing anything as fas ar the Internet goes anyway.

You should be able to set each machine independently. I have 3 PCs and a Printer plugged into the Router and no machine depends on the other for anything.

But as you set each one up it is better to have the other shutdown.

So is there any way i can repair these services and get them on here?

As far as i can see i don't have those 2 in my Services.msu.

I have another Hard Drive connected but it runs WindowsXP Home Edition SP2 (I Like Windows2000 better since its faster on my Pentum 2)

pontiaclover--Just a guess. If you do not have those two Services:
    1) Does the list in services.msc contain services with similar name?
This article suggests you should have at least Application Layer Gateway Service

Not clear what you do about Network Location Awareness (NLA). Maybe you can figure it out.
    2) Have you tried the suggestion made for at least the other Services?

No i didn't even have the alg.exe file required.

I looked in C:\WINNT\System32 and there was none. Since i have a second hard drive i copyed alg.exe over and still nothing.

I looked over those pages but can't figure out what they mean.

ALG or anything around that us not found. The only thing close is Application Managment.

as for Network (NLA), nothing there... i don't knoiw why.

is there any way to repair windows to get these services back using my 2000 cd?

pontiaclover--If you could not find those files on the Win2000 CD, it is unlikely you will be able to copy them to your hard drive. However, you have nothing to lose by trying SFC /SCANNOW.

I know very little about Win2000. Maybe different versions had different Services.
    Also see here

Have you gotten all the Windows Updates for 2000?
And remember my first post above "Most other sources say to contact your Adminstrator! (Error 761) "
Maybe that is the problem (rather than Services) and you need to check your account settings to be sure your Administrator account is being used and properly setup.

I hope someone else will chime in, since I doubt I can offer more. Regrets.
