I have a backup program which only restores files in DOS. How do I create a DOS bootup CD? Is it possible?

You probably know that there is no DOS in XP, only a DOS emulator.

The options you have, AFAIK are to start in Safe Mode with Command prompt or from within Windows - Start > Run > cmd > OK will get you a Command prompt.

I suppose you know that DOS won't recognise a drive formatted as NTFS.

Burning programs should have an option to make a disk bootable. Get one of the DOS compatible bootdisks here:
    www.bootdisk.com

You may need to have startup files that include loading Himem.sys so you can run DOS in the upper memory.

Bootdisk.com might have what you are looking for.

If you want a full DOS OS, there is a free version of DOS, do a search for "freedos ".
