Is IE6 better than IE5.5 and is it stable for an upgrade?

I have been using IE6.0 since it was released. I prefer it to 5.5.
Yes I find it very stable. Some people have posted some problems after upgrading but that's pretty normal with a download file from MS.

If I could offer a couple of suggestions

You didn't mention what operating system you are using but
make sure you have all the updates installed.

Also the file you download is just the installer it will
get the rest of the program so you need to be connected to the web.

Shut down your Anti virus and any other programs that are
    not neccessary.

Reboot before you run the set-up file to free up resources.

After installation get the latest commulative patch for IE6 and install it.

After you install the patch start Media Player go to tools/options
and make sure no check mark is beside
"Allow internet sites to uniquely identify your player "
    this plugs another hole.

Read and use the privacy settings and the security settings.

    As a suggestion.

Do not do an online install. Any little hiccup during same may ( has ) cause(d) a bad install.

After running the setup file there is a place to select advanced and do a download only.

Then run IE6setup from the folder the files are in.
