Is there some preferences of two types of internet connection: Ethernet and cable modem(TV + internet via one cable)? Mainly stability, speed, interferences, etc. Is the connection via cable modem reliable enough, comparing with Ethernet?

I'm a little lost on your question....

Cable modems can connect to your pc via ethernet or usb. USB is the less reliable of the two.....

Here I meant is the ISP service via cable modem less reliable compare with ISP service through direct ethernet connection(without modem), or vice versa..

According to your description, of couse ethernet is more reliable and easy to manage.

However, no ISP can provide "direct ethernet connection" for residential users or even small-middle business users.

I know one company who use "direct ethernet connection" to connect their head office and branches from Vancouver to Montral, ever to Costa Rica, Absolutely no router. But the cost is HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!

Actually Our local ISP http://www.knology.net has a new neiborhood setup with fiber to the home.
Ethernet directly out of the fiber on the exterior of the house to your router or directly to your PC.
    10 meg down 1 meg up. :)
