I have lost the correct access to the ctrl/alt/del app. It comes up in the "CPU Usage" and "CPU usage history" charts instead of its original screen that allowed me to cancel a running application

When you have above view displayed, look above "CPU Usage" and "CPU usage history" and see 5 tabs, click on the tab you wish to view. "Application" tab will bring up applications running. "Processes" will show most of your current processes loaded. Which ever view you have displayed when you close Task Manager, will display when you load Task Manager the next time. Once open you can click on these tabs/view to your hearts content. Just remember to exit Task Manager with your preferred view. For myself, I prefer "Processes ".

    tenbob--
C+A+D causes Task Manager to open. The tab which shows " "CPU Usage" and "CPU usage history" " is the Performance tab. Running applications are shown on the Processes tab.
If you can only see one window and no tabs, double-click at the top of the task manager window. That should show everything again. You can toggle the menu's and tabs in task manager on and off by double-clicking in the area next to the tabs.
As Dennis L has said you must have closed TaskManager on the Performance window when no tabs were showing.

Thanks to both of you. How much programming effort could it have been to provide somewhere on that screen: the ability to go back to the taskmanager appications window?

I used to do a bit of programming and I have always been amazed at the laziness of some programmers. There was an excuse 20 years ago when we were running with 32 or 64K of memory rather than the multi meg memory we have now. Every word took up precious memory but Now ????

tenbob--Especially when a double click at the top of the window is not too intuitive. :)
