You don't have a lot of choice - my personal preference would be for Hitachi/IBM (Hitachi bought IBM's hd business)

IBM is a dead company now it used to be big. IBM and Microsoft worked closely together. Then Gates messed that up too lol :p

You are right at one time Microsoft sat in IBMs lap. They got an indeth look at the archetecture of the PC, with out that I doubt they would have been as great as today. That was by chance too. The originall OS IBM selected, the owner of, circled the airport in his private plane making the IBM officials below in their Limos wait. Finally they got ****** and left, when one of them remarked I heard of this guy that has an OS ( gates) the OS that gates had he bought , it was originally called something like the "down and dirty operating system " which latter became DOS. Also gates had the foresight to lease the OS to IBM instead of selling it to them. Having said that, in a way i am glad that there is only Microsoft. It would be a real pain for me or anybody that fixes PC to have to support 3, 6 maybe 20 different operating systems.
