notepad association

    dear sir,
    yesterday i downladd a freeware

    smarterkid1.2.msi

    as i downloaded it , it get associated with notepad and opens with notepad whenever i tried to install it by double clicking. what's the problem.
    my o/s is
    winxp pro 2003 (build2600)

    Right-click the .msi file, and from the menu choose Open With.... Hopefully you'll see Windows installer listed as a recommended program (or maybe under Other Programs). Select it, and make sure you tick the box Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.

    Open Windows Explorer and click on Tools>Folder Options>File Types> Scroll down to .msi and change to association to Windows Installer Package>Change>Apply>OK

    dastgir--What happens if you right click on the downloaded .msi file and then Install?

    From Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types.

    Select "MSI Windows Installer Package "
    Then, click on the Advanced Button
    You should have Install, Uninstall, Repair.

    Is there an Open option?
    If so, select it, Remove button, OK your way out.
