    On my windows 95 computer whenever windows boots it gives an error saying disk.id file is missing. After that another error message appears where it says that win.ini cannot find the file disk1.id. I would like to know what this means and how to fix it if it is even important enough to bother with since other than the errors there is no adverse affects in operation.

    I just happen to have a "disk2.id" file in my Windows\Temp folder. It is part of the setup files for my Realtek LAN card.

    My guess is that it is part of some hardware setup files that should be run on reboot. The problem will probably have started from the time when you were trying to install the drivers for some hardware.

    Go into the registry at this Keys;
    Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runonce
    Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce
    Hkey_Current_User\Software\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runonce
    In the right pane, delete what is there.
