My Computer Link Problem, A Simple Solution Need I Hope

Hey all,
i have what im hoping is just a simple problem on my computer which is currently running on Windows XP...

When i open up My Computer, and go to click on one of the drives (say C:\), it opens up a Search window without opening up the C drive...
Following this i right clicked on the C drive icon and noticed that somehow Search had become the default function which was to occur, and that through the tampering of a certain family member, the Open option no longer operated correctly...

To fix the problem, all i think that is needed is to put simply edit the file type in the 'Folder Options' -> 'File Types' section, and put in the code/link of the correct program in the link section, but i am not informed enough to do so
