I have a laptop with an AMD 64bit processor, 512mb RAM, 60GB HD. Last wee, I was having problems with my video card as it would cause my games to crash. It then evolved to my windows going to a blue screen with a lot of white text and restarting automatically...and finally it reached the point where it now boots into windows fine, but there is no display at all on my laptop screen. There isnt even a backlight. I tried connecting an external monitor to it, but it doesnt output a display onto that monitor either. Anyone know how I can go about fixing this?

The way I read it, there is no graphics at all now.

It sounds like something was slowly failling in the graphics system, maybe overheating. If you get the system back up and running again, check that the game's system requirements are not too high for the specifications of your graphics and even if they are close, reduce the graphics settings in the game so that the system can run comfortably. If you see the graphics slow down or stutter, that's when there is a high load (I can see it happen when I have a hundred or more units in combat :) )

If you have lost all graphics you could try "clearing the CMOS ". I have not tried this on a portable computer before (or know if you can). You will need to read your User Guide/manual.

If it is still under warranty, investigate how to get it repaired (and notify them immediately if your warranty is running out).

Most manufacturers will have a user's forum. They might be the best people to ask.

    Graphics card!

Your graphics card is shot. I had the same thing happen to me in my laptop it would turn on but with no display even with an external monitor.
