I am trying to set up a dell inspirion 700m to run off of our Apple Airport extreme at work. I basicly copied the settings from one machine to the other. The only differnce is one is using XP Pro sp2 and the other is using XP Home sp2. THe problem I am having is the Dell will not pick up the correct IP info. It picks up a 169 number and a subnet but no gateway. It should be picking up a 192 number and the rest of the info. I have updated the drivers for the wireless and that did not help. I also tried setting the IP info manually. That also did not help. Windows and norton firewall are both turned off. We are using WEP. Any help you could give me would be much appericated. I am starting to get VERY frustrated.

    Thanks all!

This should be the communication problem between your computer and DHCP server which may reside in the router.

If you are sure other computers can get IP address for the same router properly, please check the wireless signal on your computer. Make sure it is strong enough. say, more than 3 green bar out of 5.

Another thing you can try is disable the WEP temporarily(Please remember set it back afterward)

The worst case is your wireless card has some hardware malfunction but it rarely happens.
