    did some google-ing

    Hi Kipper!

I googled that user name and came across this forum. Read near the bottom, it seems that this account came into being with a Windows Update of some sort. The person who posted LAST, said s/he deleted it and saw no effect to the functioning of his/her computer. This MIGHT help but wait for some other bbs experts to reply!

Hope others may have experience on this issue.

    Hello kipper,
    welcome to Windows BBS ... :) ...!

I went google on it and found Microsoft - ASP.net which indicates that it is the "hidden" user account created when installing .NET Framework.

Initially, installing .NET Framework forced the user to choose his login account and did not let Windows start directly on a single user account setup. This flaw has been addressed in one of the updates to .NET Framework.

My recommendation is, if it bothers you - uninstall .NET Framework but if it does not bother you - leave it alone.

If you do not remember installing .NET Framework, and sure you did not, chances are some software you have installed put it there for you. Removal of .NET 1.1a or 2.0 will cause this software to become nonfunctional. A type of software that will do this is MOM (Mail Order Manager, intergrates with United Parcel Service software).

Removing ASP.NET from the Welcome screen. Back up your registry. Start>Run>regedit H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList. In the right pane click on an empty space, choose New DWORD Value and name it ASPNET(notice it's all capitols) then set the value to (0). You may have to reboot.

    It Comes with .NET

    Hi,
Whenever you install .NET (VB / ASP ) it creates a user, so don't worry for that.

    Regards
