Can someone give me the method to do the following:
I create a new field in an existing database--no problem.
I want to concatenate two existing fields in the database to create a new value in the new field.

I have 3000 records that I wish to replace blankvalues in the new field with the concatenated results for each record.

I wish to have this done for all 3000 records.

Used to be able to use a replacement command in dbase.
Any ideas how to do this in Access???

    Thank you.....

I think the way to do this is to make a query in design view.

Query all of the fields in your table and then make a new field that concatenates the 2 fields that you want to combine. I think you may have to use a 'union query' to do this. After you get it to work the way you want, change the query to a 'make-table' query.
    That should be it.

    Hex92,

Thanks, can you now tell me how to do what you suggest. I am fairly familiar with the terms but don't have a manual or tutorial to do what you suggest. Could you email me with your solution? Or if it is short respond here for others to see also.

    Thank you.....

    Hi Folks

Hex92 did it for me. I used the Update Query to concatenate (join two fields in new field.) Worked perfectly. The instructions are located in the index files--under Queries, then find the Line items called Change records as a group using an update query. Pretty straight forward after that.....Thanks all...hope this will help someone trying to figure out the same problem I had.....:D
