Ok, let me just put it short and sweet, this morning i had my computer turned on with a few MSN windows open. I went to take a shower, came back and my computer had frozen up. So i just held down the power button for 10 seconds until the computer shut down....this happened 3 more times right after i restarted my computer.

However, when i had restarted my computer for the 4th time, a message came up before i could log in to windows...

"We are sorry for the inconveince (sp) but Windows did not start successfully. A recent software or hardware change might have caused this. IF your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.

If a previous start-up attempt was interrupted do to a power failure or because the power or reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem choose Start Windows Normally.

    Safe Mode
    Safe Mode with Control Panal
    Safe Mode with Networking

Last Known Good Configuration (Your last good settings that worked)

    Start Windows Normally

Use the up and down arrow keys to choose the option of your choice. "

First of all I have had no recent software or hardware changes (no installments, anything)

    - Now, I have tried all of these options and let me tell you what they have done for me.

Safe Mode = Random gibberish starts rolling down my screen....followed by a flash of blue on white text - then it gives me the "NO VIDEO" box like when you turn off you computer, and starts my computer from the begining again.

All of the safe modes did that ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Last Known Good Configuration & Start Windows Normally = I see the Windows loading screen, and then a sudden flash of Blue on White text... "NO VIDEO" message and starts my computer again.

Well, thats my problem, i would appreciate ANY help i can get please!! >.<

Hayden - Welcome to the Board :)

From the symptoms you describe your computer has suffered a system failure. The flash of blue you see just before the computer restarts is the 'Blue Screen of Death' - BSOD which gives details of the failure. Unfortunately the default setting in Windows is to restart on System failure which is not very helpful in trouble shooting. It can be changed, but only when Windows is running.

The message re. software/hardware change is generic - 'might have caused this' and is standard when a system failure occurs.

The 'random gibberish' you see in Safe mode start up are a list of the Windows files being loaded.

    Enough of the explanations ....

It is impossible to determine if the source of your problem is hardware or software as we have no error codes to work on.

As you cannot boot at all your options are very limited....

Do you have a full XP install CD or Recovery disks?

Is all your data backed up to an external source?

Come back with that information and we can formulate a plan of action.

In that case run chkdsk /r from the Recovery Console as outlined in my previous post to a poster who seems to have been removed.

I dont know what any of that means! However i did put in my "Windows XP Professional" disk into the hard drive and set the booting sequence to CDRom, now i am prompted with some commands at the bottom of a blue screen saying "press F1 to enter setup, Press F2 to enter Repair" i pressed F2 because i was aware that i needed to repair. Now however i am prompted with a message saying "The recovery console provides system repair and recovery functionality "

Type EXIT to quit the recovery system and restart the computer

I am sorry if I confused you - this thread is already confusing with the splitting of one post to another thread and my reply remaining :(

As SonofThunder posted at the C:\ prompt in the Recovery Console type chkdsk /r - note the space before the forward slash and hit Enter.
