Under 2003 server, setting up users to log on through terminal servers is carried out security->local policy->user rights assignment. How does one do the equivelent using windows 2000 server?

    Many thanks

    If I remember right...

First, you have to install the Terminal Services service, through Add/Remove Programs. During the installation, it will ask you in what mode you want the service to run. Choose "Remote Administration mode" for connecting to it for administration purposes or "Application mode" if you want to use it as an application server. Notice that for this mode you will need licenses, it works without only for few months (I don't recall if it's three or six).
After installation, you'll have to configure the service through "Terminal Services Cofiguration ", that will be added to "Administrative tools ".

Hope this will help. I appologize in front if some of the names are not adequate, it is a while since I last played with a 2000 server.
    Good luck.

    Not in Windows 2000

I don't recall that the Remote Desktop Users group exists in Windows 2000, I think it's a 2003 Server feature.
Checked in few machines I have and there's no such group.

Open up MMC console for terminal services configuration on the server and select the RDP connection and properties. It's in here that you can add the relevant group you want to have access. If you want all then stick in Domain Users.
Don't forget that you also need to select the allow logon to terminal server radio button for the user account in Active Directory.
