For some reason, my search function in THunderbird is not working.

I forwarded all of my "personal" i.e. non-work emails from my work email to my home email about a month ago (I am looking for a new job, so I am trying to clean out my work computer of anything not work related), and I am looking for a specific one that has a friend's phone number (I need to call her for a reference). I know the message exists in THunderbird, because I saw it there the other day.

I right clicked on Local Folders and chose search messages. I am looking for her name "Darlene" so I choose to search in the body of all my messages in all folders for that name, and nothing came up (I know all my messages are here, because I have only been using thunderbird for about a month now, and I haven't emptied the trash).

So...being that I already went manually through all the emails in my inbox, I thought that maybe it went to the trash. If I search my trash for all emails that came from my work address, it says that none are found, when I KNOW they are there...

am I missing something? Do I have to type in the full e-mail address when doing a find by the to/from field?

My TB search works just fine.

How about opening one of the emails and note something you know is there and then do a search for something you noted....

On my TB, my email account folders are listed ABOVE "Local Folders ", and therefore not included in the latter. If yours is the same, you'll have to search each email account folder seperately.

There is a couple of ways to set up TB accounts. One way is to have your inbox in your Local Folders. All email would come into your Local Folders inbox. Is this the way you do it?

I have my three accounts in their own separate folders and I use Local folders to store my saved emails in named folders.

At any rate, as rambler said, each account must be searched separately if you sent your office mail to a particular account.

Another possibility is you ISP removed them as spam and didn't send them to your account.

Have you tried sending them from work again?
