I've been getting this error in 1.5.0.4 for the past few weeks and cannot figure it out. The "enable javascript" option is checked within the Tools section of the browser. Could ZoneAlarm possibly have something to do with this?

Any help on how to get this functioning again would be appreciated!

    Kenny,

Is this on every page with JavaScript, or on specific sites. If the latter, could you give us a link, please?

    Thanks!

Ramona, the javascript error is coming up on any page that has javascript on it.

Any idea why it was "turned off" or how to "turn it back on" within the browser? I have a feeling ZoneAlarm did something on the last auto upgrade but I cannot figure out what or how to even go about making corrections.

Assuming that Zone Alarm is doing it, disabled it. I was using the Firewall, which was free, but gave it up, because ZA messed up a number of my programs.
Do you have their Suite? If so, you must have paid for it, so you are entitled to support. They also have a pretty fair users forum. If your setting are ok, it is either an external application, or an extention which you may have installed recently. e.g: I have the Prefbar, and you can uncheck JavaScript. Should I have done it, I would get the same error as yours. If you suspect an extention, you should try to start FF in Safe Mode (Start|All Programs|Firefox (Safe Mode).
If you don't find that setting, Start|Run|browse to firefox.exe and then type in:
-safe-mode, with a keyboard space in front of the -.

Ok, I have tried disbaling ZoneAlarm Pro but still get the "browser does not support java script" error. I am using the stand alone firewall from ZoneLabs and it is the most current version.

I even uninstalled Mozilla and reinstalled a fresh version (deleted all my previous settings under my profile) but the same error is coming up.

I'm lost here as to what happened.

I have had all sort of problems with the free ZA Firewall. I removed, even cleaned up the Registry, and it made some changes in the Registry which cannot be changed. To this date, I cannot set an unzipping utility to be default for .zip files, because Zone alarm made some irreversible changes, in the Registry. No one at ZA ever bothered to answer me, because I had a free version, and, no one at their user group had a clue. It simply should have not happened, but it did. so much for ZA.

    Kenny,

Since you reinstalled Firefox, check your JavaScript option again to ensure it is enabled. Check here: Tools | Options | Content

If still no joy, uninstall ZA and try either the

    Sygate Personal Firewall 5.6 (free)
NOTE: Now owned by Symantic, but still available at a few sites.

    OR

the Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall 4.2.3.912 (free)

See if you still are unable to access a site containing JavaScript.

I have switched to Sygate5.6, in March 2006, and has been good to me.

Nope, can't switch at this time Ramona as I paid for ZoneAlarm Pro for another full year a few months back. I am not using the free version of the program.

I guess I'll just have to deal with this!

    Kenny,

I really think you should post this problem on the ZA Forum. I don't think Firefox is the problem. If you have the JavaScript option enabled, then JavaScript should work.
