lost sound on my pc

    I think my son deleted my sound. I don't know how to retrieve it.

    Can you be more specific as to what you are experiencing?

    Did you examine the properties in Device Manager;
    Start/Settings/Control Panel/System
    Choose the Hardware tab and click Device Manager

    Are there any '!' or 'X' marks in the Sound, video and game controllers?

    You might have to reinstall the sound drivers!

    Hi Jon, I have the same problem as the OP; I did as you said, and saw no marks (! or X). What do you suggest?

    candib, JulieDee - Welcome to the Board :)

    The first thing to check is that the sound has not been muted.

    Look in the System Tray - by the clock in the lower LRH corner of the screen for the Volume icon. Click on it and check that the Mute box is not checked and the volume slider is towards the top.

    If you do not have that icon go to Control Panel > Multimedia and check the 'Show volume icon in the Task Bar' box.

    Check also that the speakers are plugged in properly and powered up.
