My computer boots up and the first thing screen shows is my

sata controller and then it says

    No Bios installed

It boots to windows then if I do anything I get blue screen and memory dump and it reboots.

How can a computer lose the Bios? I use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse so I can't even access Bios anyway. Does this mean my motherboard is dead?

    Cmos battery dead?

    Thanks

are u booting to a sata drive?

if not, ignore the message. IOW - if u've nothing on that sata controller, then ... there's not reason to load the bios.

is this a SATA card? is this an onboard device?

name the names here. what drive types, what boot order, what sata controller and where is it? etc.

I have a MSI 865PE Neo 2 motherboard. All my onboard sata controllers are shot a tech told me.

I have 2 Sata drives hooked to Promise TX2 non raid controller card. Drives are WD. Its in PCI slot 4 (second from bottom) I always number PCI slots by 1
which is closest to AGP slot others might go PCI slot 5 is closest to AGP slot.

AGP: Pny Geforce 4 6800 ultra
    PCI 1 open
    PCI 2 Storm 2 Card
    PCI 3 open
PCI 4 Sata Controller Promise TX2
    PCI 5 Audigy 2 soundcard

    XP Pro SP 2

I tried to put in new ddr 400 memory to see if I had bad memory I still got blue screen physical memory dump and reboot. I assume you need bios to upgrade from 512 to 1024 meg chips.

I think the first boot sequence is CD Floppy HD

I doubt there is anything drastically wrong with the BIOS. No BIOS = no computer.

You will need a backup PS/2 keyboard to make adjustments in the BIOS settings.

I think your system has reverted to default BIOS settings. It is trying to boot to the primary IDE Controller.

The SATA Controller will (may) be termed a "SCSI" Controller. I think you need the boot sequence to boot to SCSI rather than a HD.

I have had experience with IDE Controller cards, so see if skeet6961 or others think differently.
