    Hi All,

Somehow during the installation of a new broadband connection and the removal of some spyware I have lost the ability to select images as desktop wallpaper. All I now get is a blank screen in a colour of my choice!

Even if I right click on on image on the web and select 'Set as Background' nothing happens.

The entire list of images available by right clicking on the desktop are now greyed out.

Can anyone tell me what I have done and how to get my images back.

    Many thanks in advance.
    Simon

In Display Properties, go to the Desktop tab and click on the "Customize Desktop" button. Go to the Web tab and uncheck everything there, including "Lock desktop items," click OK. See if that fixes things.

    Hi,

I've looked but the only checkbox in the Web Tab is the 'Lock desktop items' box and that is unchecked.

This computer has two user accounts and on the other user account the wallpapers are still accessible.

    Thanks anyway
    Si

The problem you're having is usually associated with the presence of malware...possibly a virus but more likely spyware.

Click Here to open a very good post on how to remove malware.

    short of spy/mal infection:

    guess = corrupt profile

logon u'r norm account, open files & setting transfer wizard in the system tools section.

run it and save all files & settings.

create a new account and repeat the F&S wiz and import u'r stuff.

    Thanks All,

Downloading and running th elatest version of Spybot appears to have fixed the problem.

Spybot red-flagged a registry change to the active desktop which might have been the culprit. Anyways it seems to be okay now.

    Thanks
    Si:)
