    Hi everyone,

I knew there is a function in Exchange 2003, which can set up the limited space for MS Outlook in HD. How about Outlook Express ? Because my company doesn't have Exchange Server, everyone uses Outlook express and saves their e-mail in local HD. Some of them even have more than 1G email in their HD, and that really causes HD's performance. Is there anyone have good idea what I should do ? Thank you.

1 gig of mail is a lot of mail but should have no bearing on hard drive performance...Might have some affect with OE...

Is deleting some of the old mail an option?

Not really. Only thing I can think of is to look into NTFS Disk Quotas, although that will limit the total size they can use.

Read: Windows XP File System: NTFS

    Hi Steve,

You know users...when u ask them to delete their email, they gonna tell you every email are very important and can't be deleted, and I don't wanna go to their PC and delete their email one by one. That's why I wanna know there is any steps can be setup for limited Outlook Express space and force users to delete by themselves. For example, when they reach 1G, windows will pop msg and ask them delete some email.

You might explain to your users what file corruption is all about. The OE dbx files can only be so large before they died a painfull death.

Emails, especially older and/or less used ones, can be put into another folder located outside OE. Create such a folder, then, in the various OE "Boxes" hold down Control, highlight all the email messages you want to move and either drag and drop to the new folder (as a group), or File|Save to the new folder. They will be saved as .eml files, which open (and can be handled) just like an ordinary email.
Having too many messages in OE can indeed corrupt its operation.

Note the compacting step, which should produce an automatic pop message every 100 or so uses of OE.
