I've been using the Netscape 8.x browser and Mozilla Thunderbird for a few months. Separating the browser and e-mail client seems like a good idea.

I've noticed that there are very few postings about Netscape 8.x in this forum. Are most people still using Netscape 7.x? In my experience, Netscape 8.x is much less likely to crash.

In Netscape 8.1, I have a problem with the classic GUI. Specifically, when I open Tools/Options/General, part of the dialog box at the bottom is truncated, so that it is impossible to access the http proxy field. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a known workaround?

I gave my opinion in the reply to your other post.
I, still, have, NS8.1, mainly to test other people's problems. I, think that I have run into most of the problems reported by other people. Unlike other related which fail their profiles (such as with Firefox, Mozilla or earlier Netscapes), the solution to my problems in NS8.1 have been to uninstall the program, while keeping the profile. I started with a new profile only once, but uninstalled and then reinstalled 8.1, keeping my profile, a total of nine times. Sometimes the process brought out new problem, but it cured most of them. It is a bad one.
It never crashed on me, but it locks up on starting with nauseating regularity. It took me four tried today, over 10 min. to make it go. And, I don't use any tab.
I have dropped Netscape7.2 several months ago. Firefox1.5.0.4/Thunderbird1.5.0.4 is my default combination, but the Seamonkey1.0.2 suite is pretty good.
