I use Download Center to search for updates and here you have what is available for KB916281.

The 'standard' route for downloading patches to save to disk is .....

Microsoft Update > Use Administrator Options (left hand pane) > Windows Update Catalogue > Find Updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems > Choose your OS and search.

    Thanks guys ...

It use to be, when you found a knowledge base article on an update, a "Download now" button was always included....however, somewhere toward the end of 2004, all articles for W98se pointed you to an FAQ which pointed you to Windows update. What I failed to notice was an option under "see also" on the update page which showed you the catalogue and the ONLY way to download without installing...(probably what Pete was referring to ...)

BTW, remember all the fuss about the free USB sticks from MS$ (for filling out forms) that they didn't have? Well, got my hands on one, turns out they where passing them out as freebies at dealer shows ...now if I can just find some USB 2.0 drivers for 98se ....

    Cheers
    Jake
