After not being able to find the uninstaller for Tiny Firewall, I deleted all references to it on my system including the registry.

When the system boots now though Windows Installer tries to find Tiny Software, then comes up with Error 2718 and a string of numbers.

Is there any way to get rid of this?

    Hello screamer,

Try using the installer cleanup utility to get rid of the install attempt:

Thank you for the reply Charles. Have tried your suggestion, but the pesky thing is still popping up.

Have also trawled through all the ini files in msconfig, and no references to Tiny Software.

    Hi screamer,

I think that there is still parts of tiny in the registry. Unfortunately can't tell you what to look for.

Do you still have the setup file for tiny? If so, re install it. That should also put back the uninstaller.

If you google this error, no one has a definitive answer.

    Regards - Charles

Did you go to My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View tab and enable Show hidden files and folders plus uncheck Hide extensions for known file types and Hide protected operating system files? If you still don't see any left over files check for any Startup entries for Tiny in msconfig and uncheck them.

If that still doesn't find anything or help you could try a registry cleaner, System Restore (to a point before Tiny install) or Repair install.

Googling for a solution was one of the first things I tried Charles, and as you say it was not helpful. I was trying to avoid reinstalling Tiny in case once again it does not create an uninstall option, but am now thinking this is the only option I have now.

Tried your options to no avail Whiskeyman, and as I only keep recent System restore points, that option is not available either.

Will report back on further progress (if any)

    Hi screamer,

The re install should create the uninstall program, can't think of a reason why it wouldn't. If it doesn't, that would be a first in my experience.

I think the uninstall was lost since.

googled the site Tinysoftware.com. They all involve a reinstall.

    http://www.google.com/search?num=30...GGLD:en&q=site:www.tinysoftware.com+uninstall

They did have this, from the above:
    http://www.tinysoftware.com/home/ti...04A0&&pg=topic&article_name=mhss_maint_uninst

    Excerpt from:
Manual Unistallation - Tiny Firewall without User Interface

The only way how to uninstall Tiny Firewall - version without User Interface - is from the command line (or using enterprise deployment tools or scripts).

Open the guid.txt file (supplied with each Tiny Firewall version or located at tfms/internal/tpf/_src(_wo_)ui_/install

in command line type in: msiexec {guid_number} /(parameters) as shown in guid.txt

Since TF is 100% windows installer project you can use all options provided by Windows installer.

    OR
Manual Unistallation - Tiny Firewall with User Interface
Go to Add-Remove programs and uninstall Tiny Firewall.

Finally opted for the reinstall option, and thankfully setup gave me the choice of removing it, so all sorted now. :D

Many thanks as ever all of you for sharing your knowledge in helping me sort out the problem. :)
