Toshiba Notebook - Satellite M45-S269, Win XP SP2. In Control Panel there's an icon called Bluetooth Local COM. Does this mean my notebook is bluetooth ready...i.e. just connect a bluetooth device and it will work?

Your user guide (pdf file - see page#20) says your set to go for Bluetooth connectivity. See warning per possible interference with WIFI environments.
(page number as stated by Foxit - pdf reader)

For your convenience, a very Detail Specification listing (pdf) for your laptop.

    Your welcome AceH.
You have a nice laptop. When you connect some Bluetooth devices to this computer, drop a thread in this post and let us know how well it works.

I just realized it may be bluetooth ready. I hadn't even given bluetooth devices a second thought prior to a couple of days ago.

If I connect anything bluetooth, I'll let you know how it works.
