I got an old Packard Bell computer that I wanted to give to my sister to learn on. I formatted the HD and was going to reinstall Windows 95 that I got with the computer. Once formatted the computer won't read the CD to do a re-install. How can one get it to recognize the CD drive. I have a Windows 95 start up disk that it reads but can't get the computer to read the CD.

    Thank you

Us "oldies" might remember (maybe I have to speak for myself :D ). The Win 95 startup disk does not have CDrom support. You need a Win 98 startup disk (or equivalent). You can get a 98 bootdisk here:
    www.bootdisk.com

I suggest you do not try too many "tricks" with 95. Use software that is clearly labelled as compatible.

    Thanks mattman
This fixed my so called problem. I have used BBS support numerous times and I always get great results. It's so handy to have that much knowledge available.
    Thank you very much
