I open My Documents which have Excel files in it. I also have a folder in My Documents that I use. I am trying to cut and paste my file into the folder. It works sometimes but other times it doesn't. Once it worked when I shut everything else down! I don't understand why!?! I am so aggrevated with it. Is there a simple way to do this simple simple procedure that I am missing??
    Thanks,
    C*

You have files in My Documents that you want to move into a subfolder in My Documents? Is that correct?

If you just left click and hold the button down, drag the icon over the folder you want the file to be in. Should work.

Otherwise, click on the file you want to cut, right click, choose cut, then double click on the folder you want it in, right click on anywhere in the folder (not on any icons though) and choose paste). Should work that way as well.

I guess I will try doing it that way from now on. It worked (though I just realized some of my files have spaces in the names and have totally messes up the order of things). I was, at one time, able to just right click on the folder I wanted and pasted it there. I never had to open the folder before (and dragging never worked). Ah-well! Thanks--now I have to go Rename about 50 files to get rid of that darn space!!!!:(

I don't believe it! Now it won't even let me open up the folder to paste! Well, I can open up the folder but the paste option doesn't show up when I right click my mouse! I will try again another time! The program is so tempermental! C*

Are you moving the files within excel, or are you doing it from windows explorer?

You have to go right away to the folder and choose paste without doing anything else, or it will forget that you cut something.

Having spaces in the name shouldn't make a difference.

No I am doing it withing excel-right away. It worked the first time then not the second. Maybe I have some issue with this program? I am the second user of it-maybe it wasn't set up propertly-I dunno. (I know a space doesn't matter-it just messes me up here)
    Anything else....??

So I just tried it again for the first time today. I right clicked on my file, went to the folder and right clicked (not opening the file)-paste showed up so I pasted it! I then opened the folder, and the files are now in there! So it worked this morning...I know it won't work again. But I am happy it worked this morning. So I guess no one else has this problem? I will keep trudging through! Thanks, C*
