    Hello folks

    Hope someone can help.

I downloaded and installed a batch of windows critical (aren't they all? ) security patches on 28 June, and since then I've had a really annoying install shield on boot up (just as my desktop loads), giving me the option of installing (over a reportedly existing install) of M$ step by step interactive training.

The install shield offers >install (over apparently existing install) > uninstall > exit (or cancel - seems to have same effect).

Since I've never even heard of this "training" before, let alone installed it previously, so I tried uninstall and and when that didn't work (still came up on next boot up), tried install over existing. Still came up on next and all boot ups since, and as I've been busy, I've just hit exit, until I could get some feedback.

Needless to say, whatever it is, I don't want it, as I seem to have got along OK for the last 3 years without it, so how do I get rid of it?

Oh, and this may or may not be related. My windows explorer search fails to proceed. Search icon on taskbar and search dialogue/options/fields appear OK, but when I type in a file name or search parameter and hit search , it just sits there doing nothing (just the hourglass cursor - no little search torch appearing) for a couple of minutes until (not responding) appears on the windows title bar.

Ending the program results in reload of intray, but no other apparent effects.

Checked this and other forums for solutions before posting, but couldn't seem to find anything specific to help.

Thanks in advance, any advise appreciated.

    Hello grossevulcan,

Use this MS tool to delete the install attempt of interactive training:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301
If the search continues not to work afterwards, post back - don't know if its a seperate problem or not.

    Regards - Charles
