Hi, we have a mixed environment from office 2000 to office xp, for resilience i've put a duplicate mailbox on one exchange server and used a dist list to send to both, i want the reserve account to automatically delete as it will only be used in the event of a server failure. I have set the out of office but it just moves the items to deleted items. I can't set it to delete on exit as no-one uses the mailbox, likewise with autoarchive  . Any ideas how i can get it to just delete automatically before the mailbox fills up  All advice welcome. Thanks

    Reserve account...

The "reserve" account is active? I mean, is it defined and open on a computer?
If so, you can use the "Rules wizzard ", with client-only rules (that means that Outlook should be opened at all times with this account as the main account). If not, you will need to use server-only rules. And that depends on your Exchange server.
I would check again to see that this is the best way to achieve that resilience you intended... Sounds to me it's not...

    Good luck.

    Auto deleting emails

The outlook account is not active at the moment, that's the problem. I am open to suggestions to a better way of providing the resilience. It came around because of a server failure. The mailbox was located on the server that failed and it's a critical mailbox for other staff to send mail to. When the server failed, they were out of business until recovery. If we had created a duplicate we would have had to wait for replication to other systems for that to be of any use and the server was recovered before that would have occurred. This config allowed the mails to go to two mailboxes, each located on different servers. Then should one server fail the other mailbox can come into use immediately as it has already been replicated. Until there is a failure it will be a dormant account so i was looking to a way for it to empty automatically. As you say the client rules won't work because the client isn't active and the OOO just pushed the emails to the deleted items. Is there a server rule that automatically deletes all mail as it is recieved?
