Subfolders labled $NTUinstallKBxxxxxxx

When viewing my Windows Folder using PowerDesk I see several subfolders labled $NTUinstallKBxxxxxxx.

What in the world are these and can they be saftely deleted ?

Also. Could I just move them from C: to another partition ?

Unless I hear different I would consider ( only guessing ) them as uninstall files for an updtate that may not have worked correctly.

The dates on them range from 8/02/2002 to 7/9/2006.

Yes those represent your MS Updates. However, the files did intall correctly. If you uninstall them you will not be able to uninstall an update at a future time. However, that said, if you have no problems with a given update you can feel free to uninstall them.

 

BB, I use the Doug Knox utility to clean up those files. I've never had a problem.

Right. Thanks for picking it up. A mind is a terrible thing to misplace. Delte not uninstall.

Basically, as balo has said, when/if you are sure you do not want to uninstall the update, you can delete the $NTUinstallKBxxxxxxx file.
