   Hi, Somehow I have managed to lose the index when searching for folders etc. Any help would be appreciated. demyhill

   Not quite sure that I understand 'index' but look here and scroll down to Search.
   
   I use a third party app which is far more powerful than the built in search engine - File Locator Pro - the freeware version is Agent Ransack - give ita try
