Hi and welcome to the forums.

This infection is relatively new, being found in the wild at the end of May. There does not seem to be a special fix, so I'm surprised that it still appears in the log, seeing as Ewido caught it and deleted it. Is it possible you still have the Ewido log file, I'd like to see it please so I can look at any other infections were present.

Please follow these instructions, exactly, for proper HJT installation. Please place HJT into ITS OWN PERMANANT FOLDER. It also needs to be removed from the desktop.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT. (C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe)Move HijackThis.exe into this folder. When you run HijackThis.exe from C:\HJT folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of modifications to use if restore is necessary which is easily accessible.

Run Hijackthis and look over the following entries I have listed, check the boxes next to them and press the "Fix Checked" button with HijackThis. When you are doing this, make sure you have No IE windows, or other browsers open, including this one. Reboot if I have specified below, and post a fresh HijackThis log.

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = C:\WINDOWS\system32\Win1145695.exe

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm

Reboot, into safe mode, this way:
    Turn on the computer
Immediately begin tapping the <F8> key.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press the <Enter> key.

Also, enable the 'Show Hidden Folders' option, like this:
    Click Start.
    Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    Click Yes to confirm.
    Click OK.

And search for, then delete, if found, (some may not be present after previous steps) the following files/folders:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Win1145695.exe<<<--this file

To exit Safe Mode, click the Start button, click Turn Off Computer, click Restart.

Post a new HJT log back into this thread please.

For your clock, try resetting the time from whatever time zone you're in, to a different one, then revert it back to your time zone.

Also, is your taskbar not working properly either? Let me know please, thanks.

    Thank you.

Thank you for the quick reply. I am just now doing as you suggested. I have a quick question. When I move hijackthis.exe to the new folder, it only creates a shortcut to the original program which is on my desk top. How do I send the entire program to C: and not just the shortcut? My taskbar is working fine except for the run prompt which is missing. I will report the new hijack thread asap. Thank you so much!

    New Hijack Thread

Ok, so I moved the hijack.exe file to the new folder, but when I try to delete it from the desktop it removes the entire program, so I left it there for the moment. I tried to reset the clock as you suggested, but there are still the ????? and military time stamp. The task bar also lost the shut down option, which I failed to mention before. Here is the new hijack thread:

    Ok, the logfile appears clear.

Here are a couple of fixes to restore your 'Run Command' and 'Start' Menu problem.

Still looking for the clock fix.

Let me know how those go.

Are you experiencing any other problems at this point?

Go here to Kelly's Korner and scroll down to Line 57. Look at the righthand side and click on "Restore the Run Command" to download the file. Once downloaded, doubleclick on it, OK the prompt to merge with your registry and reboot.

Ok, for your Shutdown problem, try this fix on line 267 (Restore "Turn Off and Log Off" - Start Menu). Reboot afterwards.

PS: Also there is one line in HJT to fix:
    O7 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\System, DisableRegedit=1

And as a precaution can you please give me a Start Up List, using HJT:
Please generate a startup list using HJT. And please check the 2 boxes next to the 'Generate Startuplist' button:
    List also minor sections (full)
    List empty sections (complete)

    Update

Funny thing. I created a new user account and when I login everything is normal. Then when I go back to my old login, the same problems appear. My system restore utility does not work. I tried to use the system retore in the new login (administration) accout, but it is still disabled. When I click on the system restore tool, nothing happens. When I turn on the computer it says, "an unexpected error has occurred on the execution of this file" and "retrieval of Thotkey failed ". I will try to fix the task manager and run issues as you have suggested. Still trying to figure out the clock. Does it appear that the worm is gone?
    THanks!

    Startup List Info

Ok, I went to the website you asked me to and when I click to open and download the file, a new window opens and nothing happens. It looks like a notepad with a file name, but nothing to download. Am I missing something?

    Fixed some things!

Ok, I have my run, shut down and clock fixed! But, I still do not access to the system restore utility. Should I do another hijack thread? Thanks for everything so far!

Did you get the other fixes to run? What did you do to fix the clock?

No need for a new log. Doing some searching on sys restore troubleshooting now.

Are you still getting the same error?

    Last of the problems...

I fixed the clock by going into the control panel and going to the language settings. I switched the time zone from Pacific to Mountain and then back again. It reset everything. I still do not have a system restore capability, and I still get the "Thotkey failed" message upon startup. Other then that, everything looks ok. Would you trust the computer to log onto password protected sites now ie banking, etc..? How can I be sure that I really am worm free? Now I am paranoid!!! BTW, do you recommend a particular virus protection program, free or paid? Thanks so much for all of your help!!!

Glad to hear you got those items repaired.

I don't think your system was compromised by any key logger, however, it surely could not hurt to change all passwords from a known 'clean, never infected' machine a Friend or family.

If you're still a bit leery, I have no qualms about offering some other deep searching tools to gather more info for me to go thru.

When it comes to av programs, as long as you stay with a known software company, you will most likely be served well. Stay away from any type of 'all inclusive' type of 'system suites' however, none of them has ever done all they say. Many say Norton apps are bloated but I have never had much of a problem with mine, it really depends alot of how your system is configured, RAM, processor speed and such.

Let me know what you decide about running any back up scans.

Thotkey is part of your laptop:
    http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/thotkey/

I'm not sure if this was buggered up by the malware or not and cannot offer any advice on how to fix that, perhaps in the software forums?

I can offer a couple of finding tools if you like and I'll get to the logs tomorrow sometime.

    Please download Winpfind from here

Unzip it to the desktop and run Winpfind.exe.

Once the scan is finished, please CLOSE the Notepad window that pops up. Then please post the entire logfile winpfind.txt back into this thread for me to view.

    And:
    Please download SilentRunners from here

Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it. If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run. When the scan is finished, a message will pop up and a logfile will have been created on the desktop.

Please post the entire contents of this logfile created back into this thread for me to see.

That WinPFind log didn't come out properly, there should be lots more displayed. Did you have any problems running it?

Other log isn't showing anything, I'm certain we got everything.
