I think I know the answer but want to be sure. I was given this computer and pressed start. Nothing. I know the switch is working but no fan or post. Anything but the PSU I should check before replacing the PSU?
    Thanks:D

I was helping a member at another site who's hard drive shorted so bad that any pc he connected it too wouldn't power up...So, it wouldn't hurt to unplug items one at a time and try to power it up...

No lights on the case, no fans equates to no power :) , but check fuses amd power cable - not sure if PSU's have an internal fuse. As you will need to remove this no harm in opening it up and checking.

BTW if you have an electrc kettle which is not cordless try the power lead on that - or on another PC.

Thanks guys. I am sure the cord is good. Also not sure if there is an internal fuse I will find out when I pull it. But sounds like a trip to the PSU store. Any recommendation? I think I may up to a 300 for this machine I am surprised it is only a 250.

If it's a Dell I think you will need a custom PSU from Dell :(

I have found several on line that claim to be direct replacements. Same plug ins and form factor. Is there something I don't know here?

That is one of the Dell models known for bad power supplies and hard drives. If you want to use a regular ATX power supply they make adapters.
