I am a good computer expert, but one thing puzzles me. when i got my pc - compaq presario 5000 about 7 years ago it had and still has a 18GB hard drive (man thats small compared to computers now). anyway, it was partioned. there was the front partion - (17 1/2 GB) and the back partion
(400MB). is there a way to merge them and partion them again so theres like 6GB for programs and 12GB for documents, pictures, videos, games, all that kind of junk. is there a way to do that or should i just buy a AU$130 100GB HDD?

    thanks, JUSTIN:confused:

Hello Justin and welcome to the Board :)

That's quite a contrast, if you get the large drive, still a good idea to partition a drive into OS only and Data partitions.

There is partitioning software, the best known of which is Partition Magic.

If you look around, the last PM v8.0 by Powerquest should be very inexpensive. Powerquest has since been aquired by Symantec under whose name a v9.0 is the current version.

Another scenerio would to add the new drive to the system, instead of replacing the original if your system can do that.

    Regards - Charles
