I found the value to change from 0 to 1 which wasn't a problem. Now I need to open the WaitToKillAppTimeout value and change the Value Data to the number of milliseconds you want XP to wait before terminating the unresponsive application. Where do I find the WaitTO KillAppTimeout. I have windows XP Home. Any information would be appreciated. I know about backing up the registry.

I opened regedit and went to Edit->Find and searched for WaitToKillAppTimeout

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

Thanks everyone that answered me. I found everything and will now reboot my machine. I also backed up the registry just in case.
