just expanded a new dimension 1100 and when i look at the process's running i find this really unusual exe running but can find no trace of the exe anywhere on the machine or even searching the web.

    process is - 200671013402_mcinfo.exe

looking at the mcinfo is sounds like some thing from mcafee but still unable to find the exe anywhere. when i kill the process it comes right back after a reboot.

anyone seen this before and what the heck is it....greg

problem here is that i've uninstalled mcafee and removed all its folders and every thing and still it keeps coming back. have searched the registry and nothing found. there is no trace of this file anywhere on the computer so where is it coming from ???

    i hate mcafee.

found it. it was hiding in the local profile temps folder. but strange a search never found it. boy when mcafee is installed it just wont let go. there should be a law against this type of program and not being able to remove it even after cleaning the registry it still reflects that its firewall is protecting the system. a real piece of junk.

On the other hand, it really stinks when some trojans can disable your protection:eek:

Many Norton products for example require a unistall tool from Symantec's web site.

i use other products other than mcafee and norton. i prefer zonealarm or bitdefender they are far superior.

i have even used mcafee's uninstall tool and it still leaves mcafee as the protector of the firewall. even installing another firewall the security center says there are 2 protecting the system. only way i have been able to get rid of mcafee is to reformat and build from scratch and i should not have to do that with a brand new machine.

i am a reseller for dell and they did after i complained tons of times give the option in the upper models a choice of not having even a trial version put on the system. guess i will have to start bitching again.

mcafees uninstall tool is part of the system but you have to do in safe mode and still it leaves the system with garbage on it.

Do you have windows set to show hidden files? If not, perhaps it's a hidden file. The only other thing I can think of right now is that maybe it's a service of some type. Click start>run and type services.msc. Have a look there and see if you can maybe find something that looks related. It runs when you start windows so more than likely it would be one of those that's set to automatic under the under the startup type column. If you find one that's looks related, double click on it and you can disable it there. If you aren't sure, leave them alone. Better to ask here if that's the case. A long shot but worth a look.
