Have XP Pro OEM on Desktop. Help and Support Center will not open when I click Help and Support Center Icon. I have checked and the file is located in Windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries as Helpctr.exe.
Can someone give me some direction as how to correct?

Several possible fixes have been posted at various times, each of which seems to have helped some people:

    1. See if you have a copy of helpctr.exe in C:\Windows\Sustem32 folder, if so delete it:

    http://forums.us.dell.com/supportfo...ighlight=help+and+support+not+working#M165294

    2. If you used an older version of CCleaner to remove index.dat files (later versions have, I believe fixed the bug), try

    http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/fixwinxphelp.htm

Possibly also try number 235 left column in

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm (though that is if Help and support service is not running, which would be indicated by an error message, see also
    http://forums.us.dell.com/supportfo...d=sw_xpmedia&message.id=3632&query.id=0#M3632 )

    3.Try the instructions in

    http://groups.google.com/group/micr...nd_support/msg/a6a5c51007ecdd17?output=gplain

This is also laid out more clearly, but in German (but the commands you have to type are the same) at

    http://www.wintotal.de/Tipps/Eintrag.php?RBID=2&TID=711

With this method, if your OEM help and support has a manufacturer's overlay this last method will lose it. Dell's Help and Support overlay can be downloaded from

    http://www.bay-wolf.com/downloads.htm (Dell PC Health program)

Tried several. The one that worked for me was from the Google Link.
    Thanks.
