desktop pop up ballons

    How do I disable these irritating pop up ballons that arise from my icons on my start bar?:mad:

    Hello jwall and welcome to the Board,

    I'm assuming its the security alerts from XP that you mean.

    Go into the Control Panel, click on the Security Center.

    Then in the left panel, click on "Change the way Security Center Alerts me ".

    Uncheck any or all of the alert catagories.

    I suspect you mean all those irritating baloons :)

    Download Tweakui from MS and navigate it it to TaskBar and Start Menu and uncheck 'Enable Balloon tips' in the RH pane.

    Another country: save and run this file at #11 on the page (it toggles each time run)
