I have a teenager coming TOMORROW to visit for 2 weeks. Can anyone out there tell me how to make my Windows XP secure for her? I want to keep her from viewing any violence, sex, nudity, and bad language. I also want to keep her from being able to download anything on my computer
    Please, someone, help!

Set up a guest account with limited priviledges,m that should do the trick.

If you don't have them yet, you can install a hosts file along with IE-SPYADs as well. The databases of both are chock full of known exploit pushing sites along with ad server sites(hosts file).

    Hi aks
You can't block out every site as you would like. There are millions of them and it's just not possible.
You can however let her know that you will be checking on where and what she is doing on the net.
If you find out that what she is doing is not in your guide lines she will not be allowed to use the computer.
That is easy enough to do, you just have a pass word to log onto windows.

To keep track of where she is going you just need to check the internet history .or the cookies that is loaded by almost every web site (as long as she does not know how to delete it).
If the history or the cookies that is loaded by almost every web site is deleted by her ever time she logs off then I would ask her why she is deleting it and not to do so any more.

If you right click on the cookie and check the properties it should tell you the name of the web site that it came from.

As you may have guessed, I have went through this:cool:

Tell her if she is responsible there will be no problems. One ***** up and she is off the computer no if, ands or buts!:(

    Thank you, Geri

Geri, you've got it just right! And I will be consistent and firm. Thanks so much.

P.S. Truth is, I don't know (yet) not to trust this kid. She's my granddaughter, and so far she's been ok --- we think. But one never knows about teenagers, right? So, I just want some guidelines understood by all.
