Hey everyone. Nice community you have here. :)

I did some searching and could not find an answer to my troubles with my current large amount of random reboots for various errors, which I cannot seem to be able to explain as each error code is broad and refers to many different possible causes.

At present, this is the current list of errors which have occurred:

    Error code 1000007e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 b681d317, parameter3 ba40bba8, parameter4 ba40b8a4.

    Error code 100000d1, parameter1 7fd9c601, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 7fd9c601.

    Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bf8048ce, parameter3 ba48fc18, parameter4 00000000.

    Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bf9d949a, parameter3 b742739c, parameter4 00000000.

    Error code 100000d1, parameter1 00000001, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 f6df3483.

    Error code 10000050, parameter1 ff833774, parameter2 00000001, parameter3 bf81f885, parameter4 00000000.

    Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bf84f689, parameter3 b95865fc, parameter4 00000000.

    Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bf8048ce, parameter3 b980c25c, parameter4 00000000.

    Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bf8048ce, parameter3 ba555c18, parameter4 00000000.

At least a couple of those aren't even found through a Google of the code and the first parameter, which only aids to my incredible frustration at why this just continually keeps happening. I have updated all my drivers for every part of my computer, updated all software I use, and this continually keeps happening. I also have problems when doing the following:

Playing Unreal Tournament 2004: the pc restarts
Watching video through Media Player Classic: very occasionally the pc restarts

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is to do with my audio, but I cannot fathom why this would be the case, as everythings is completely up to date.
The exact specs of my computer are as follows:

CPU: Athlon XP 2500+ Overclocked to 3200+ (166 to 200 bus overclock, no heat errors, checked)
GFX: Gainward GeForce 6800GT Golden Sample (no heat errors, checked)
RAM: 2x512Mb Sticks of Corsair XMS 3200 Cas 2 (Checked with MemTest86, no errors)
    Motherboard: Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
PSU: Thermaltake 480Watt (No undervoltage, checked)
Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 2
    Video Drivers: Absolute Latest
    Motherboard Drivers: Absolute latest
    Audio Drivers: Absolute latest

THe most annoying thing about all this, is that this has been happening for so long without my finding a single factor linking the error to anything. I found this other thread here: http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=40597 which shows a guy with a very similar system as my own with some of the same error codes.

From the second post in that thread I have obtained the Dump checker from MS, just need to know what to do to aid in possibly finding the answer to all of this. :(
    Thanks for any help.

oodLes - Welcome to the Board :)

You certainly have some problems :) A few thoughts ....

You mention reboots - are you getting any BSOD's (Blue Screen of Death)?

If so set up your computer to save a dump file and use our tool to produce a Dump Data Log which you can post in this thread - see here ....

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=33471

Have you checked out the hard drive(s) using the disk manufacturer's disk diagnostic software?

Any mention of overclocking makes me nervous :) - always possible that this is the source of your problems.
You could be right - see this thread - towards the end ....

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?p=298306#post298306

I have moved this thread to the Hardware forum which I feel is more appropriate.

    Hi OodLes,

I agree about the community here - they are very knowledgeable and helpful. As PeteC says, check out the thread I started. The people on here gave me some excellent advice, most of which I could understand! ;)

What I eventually did was strip back the computer until I only had hard drive, keyboard, mouse, memory and modem plugged in. You should probably take the modem out as well, I left it in because my problems usually occured when connected to the internet. Once you have done this, if you can play your games without problems, plug things in one at a time and test thoroughly, ruling out each piece of hardware.

I put off doing it for ages, but I identified the cause quite quickly when I did, and have a working computer again.

    Good luck :)

    Thanks for the reply Pete.

Ive had this CPU overclocked as it is currently for longer than the reboots, so I decided that couldn't be the source. This is a fresh install and I just configured my system to show bluescreens and not automatically restart, and also to do a complete dump.

Once the error occurs again, I'll post the result. I'll try to get it to happen.
The really annoying thing about these errors is that they are extremely random, Ive had my machine go for a full day or so with no problems, doing everything I mentioned previously which caused the restarts, yet some days (such as yesterday when I decided to finally fix these problems) it occured maybe 4 to 5 times. :(

This sounds SOOO familiar. My computer was exactly the same, I actually left it longer than you have, until it was going off every time, sometimes before booting up completely, sometimes 10 mins, sometimes 5-6 hours. I found with mine, I could stream radio all day, try to do anything else (e.g. the kids going on "bebo ") and it was almost guaranteed to BSOD straight away.

Try the hard drive diagnostics as PeteC suggests, but it is well worth unplugging things and starting with a basic system, even if it takes you a few days to pinpoint the cause. I have been at mine for 4 days, and have a (fingers crossed) stable system now. I still have some issues but these can be resolved in time.

    Take the time to read

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=55687&page=2

There is some useful advice in there, and far more than I can give you.

Hope it all works out for you.

The driverlog file is being outputted right now.

This is the output from the dump log:

    http://o-tab.com/t/dumplog.txt

I couldn't post it directly to the forum, it was too long. I sure hope this can help. :)

    KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (8e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.

    That's much better :)

Now I must ask your patience - there is one guy who visits the Board fairly regularly who is able to analyse these logs. Sometimes the cause is clear and I can generally spot the source - not so with your log :(

If (when) you get another BSOD, post the log, but let's limit it to two/three for the time being.

So, there's your problem. Stop overclocking.

Well, thankyou so, SO much for finding out what it was. Ive altered my overclocking settings (very slight voltage increase on the cpu) and its stability all round.

    Once again, thanks! :D :D
