Can someone tell me how to save a flash file using Netscape 7.2? I know how to do it using IE, but this machine has Netscape which I prefer anyway.

    Welcome to the Forum, ptack!

    ptack,

If you haven't already figured it out, right click on the link, and select "Save Link As ", and download to the HDD. I use IrfanView to play SWF files.

As an example, go to this site: http://hubblesite.org/gallery/video/hst2005/hst2005_640x480_swf

At the bottom of the screen, right click on the underlined direct link in the message: "If no movie appears above, try this direct link to the movie file." Save to your HDD, then play the file.

Ummm, nope, right clicking does not provide a save-link-target-as option, only some options for the Adobe Flash Player 9. What I suspect you have to do is find where the flash file is cached as a temp file and copy that to another folder.

    ptack,

Did you try the page in the example? This works for me with a "Save Link As" in the right click Menu when I mouse over the "direct link" text.

What you can do is find the link for the *.swf file and then download. That link is often viewable in the Tools | Page Info, of the web page containing the *.swf file. Click on the "Media" Tab to locate the link for the *.swf file.

Or you can look in the Disk Cache Device, and list the Cache entries, and the *.swf file may be listed there. This is accessed by typing about:cache in the Location Bar. Then click on Edit | Find in This Page. Type SWF in the "Find" field.
