I noticed, I run the free Zone Alarm and at the the top where the little icons say programs next to the big lock, I have a little blue box with a hand under it and it says Generic Host Process for Win32 Services listening to ports 1026, 3002,3003 Is this O.K? I have run spybot, adaware, and full version of webroot spysweeper and all the scans are clean, if it is not ok how should I configure my system? I have windows XP service pack 1? Thanks for any help in advance you can give.

amber1970--the little icons to the right of the lock tell you what programs in Program Control you have told Zone Alarm to allow access to the Internet (green checks) and are now open to the internet.
Unfortunately I cannot identify the program from your description of the icon (does the blue box have a question mark in it?). And "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" is svchost.exe which is a legitimate Windows program that works with other programs. svchost.exe by itself is not a problem. The program it helps could be.
Port 1026 is often used for Messenger Spam. I suspect you do not want this. You stop this by not giving Messenger rights to access the Internet (in ZA's Program Control) or by uninstalling/disabling Messenger http://www.lurhq.com/popup_spam.html .
I could find little helpful info on ports 3002 and 3003.
    http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-31,GGLD:en&q=port+3002
    Maybe someone else can help.
However, if scans show your PC to be free of malware, maybe there is nothing to be worried about (except disable Messenger).
ZA (even Free) does a very competent job as long as you have not givend spyware the right to access the internet in Program Control settings.
You can also look at Alerts and Logs to see what attempts to enter your PC ports have been blocked by ZA. Are any of High importance (Rating column at left). Have any been permitted access?
Now, a question for you. How do you know the ports being probed are 1026 and 3002. I see no such info In ZA Free when I hover over the icons at the right of the lock or anywhere else. But I do not have the "little blue box with a hand under it ". Is this info limited to that icon or do you get similar information about each of the icons at the right of the lock?

P.S. I suggest you update to WinXP SP2. These references will explain more and let you decide.
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx
    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/sp2chngs.mspx
MS support for SP1 will end soon. SP2 has several new security functions. The only thing to watch for is that you should not run two firewalls. SP2 will install and activate Windows Firewall by default. Zone Alarm is better. Turn Windows Firewall off. Control Panel|Windows Firewall.

    Thanks

Thanks for you help, I have been wanting to download SP2 so I went ahead and did that today, so I have a few questions now, I am running SP2 for windows, ZoneAlarm free firewall, webroot spysweeper full version, AVG free edition antivirus, and SBC yahoo online protection for pop ups and mail protection, I have disabled windows firewall and SBC antivirus because of the other versions I am running, is the SBC antivirus better than the AVG? I also have spybot and Adaware for scanning along with webroot, being new to this do you have any other suggestions on security? thanks.

You might like to read this ....

Keep your Computer free from Viruses, Trojans, Spyware and other Malware

I am not familiar with the Yahoo av, but AVG does a fine job - use it myself on two computers and install it on all my friends computers who want a freebie - no known problems over several years.
