    Good Afternoon Everyone,

I recently got a virus on my home PC and was able to track down the main .exe(s) that were causing the main problems.

The main problems that were occuring were:
On opening internet explorer or Windows
    a) Explorer my machine would always restart
    b) The Taskmanager was disabled
    c) Internet Connections do not work
    d) My desktop settings were disabled from making changes

I was able to fix problems B & C using regedit. However my network connections all appear to be set appropriately for TCP/IP and LAN settings, yet still I can not get on to the internet. Also Windows Explorer seems to be working however some what but when I try to go to certain folders like "My Music" Explorer automatically closes on me.

I have run AVAST and deleted all infected files that were potential worms & or trogans.

If anyone can help me It would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Tim

Hi Tim and welcome to the forums.

For us to offer any advise we need to know what it was specifically that you deleted from your system. It's entirely possible you deleted some crucial system files mistakenly.

What happens when you try to access the Net? Errors or pages do not load?

    Let us know, thanks.

that makes things a little harder, I had actually decided to do this on a spare of the moment thing. And like what I my clients, friends, and family have said it the past and I try to harp on them not to do "I didn't write it down ". Now, with that said what would you suggest my next step be?

OK, I'm pretty sure Avast keeps a log file or a quarantine folder which should list what was found\removed, is it possible to access this info?

If so, lets have a peek at what is in there.

Also, if you have not emptied the contents of the recycle folder, those files should all be there, just have them listed by date and the latest deletions should be at the top of the list.
