What steps are you taking to delete mail?

What happens if you drag em to the Deleted Items folder?

if i highlight the email and press del its the same as right-click del.....just strikethrough....

same thing happens when i drag to deleted.(although it only seems to copy the email into the deleted items as suppose to move)

This means that you are deleting email from an IMAP box. From the menu now choose Edit > Purge Deleted Messages. This will delete the messages from the server.

Short for Internet Message Access Protocol, a protocol for retrieving e-mail messages.

    Hotmail for example is imap...

POP3 works by checking the inbox on the mail server, and downloading new messages to your computer. IMAP downloads the headers of new messages on the server, then retrieves the message you want to read when you click on it.

When using POP3, your mail is stored on your PC (unless you change a setting in your email program that says something like "leave a copy of messages on server "). When using IMAP, the mail is stored on the mail server. Unless you copy a message to a "Local Folder" the messages are never copied to your PC.
