Annoying instant access dialer pop ups

    Hi Everyone,
    Instant access pop ups keep coming back. Tried Spybot, trendmicro, but unable to remove this dialer. Keeps coming back with annoying pop ups even though spybot and trendmicro cleans up. I am at my wits end. Pls help. Installs the shortcut 'No credit card' on the programs list for win XP. Also my computer keeps popping up with WinAntiSpyware and SpyDoctor pop ups which I never used to get before. Trend Micro gave the following results:
    Adware_DotcomBar 1 item
    Dialer_LiveService 1 item - Threat details - Product name- LiveSvc Dialer.

    Any help will be really appreciated - Cindy

    Both WinAntiSpyware and SpyDoctor are rouge applications (not Spyware Doctor however) and I’d say a first step would be removing anything you see related to them. I’m no good at HJT lists so can’t be more specific.

    Pleased to help, but while I look through your log and do a spot of research ....

    Please move Hijackthis to a folder on your hard drive, say C:\HJT - the Desktop or a temporary folder is not a suitable location for the backup made by HJT when entries are fixed.

    Boot into Safe Mode and log onto your usual account.
    Scan again with HJT, reboot into normal mode and post the log, please.

    You can pass on the scan with HJT from a permanent location as requested in my last post.

    Please download the trial version of Ewido. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu ". Once installed please update it by clicking on the Update button. Do not run it yet.

    Please download VundoFix to your Desktop. Doubleclick on the icon and run the program.

    Click on Scan for Vundo and if anything is found click on Fix Vundo.

    If nothing was found please let me know.

    Boot into Safe Mode and run Ewido ....

    Click on Scanner and select a 'Complete System Scan'.
    If anything is found during scanning you will be prompted to clean the files.
    Select "Remove" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" and then click on OK

    Once the scan has completed save the report to a known location.

    Stay in Safe Mode and scan again with HJT (Select Scan only). Place a checkmark against these entries and click on Fix selected ....

    If we are to sort this out it is essential that you follow my instructions and report back as requested :)
    You have not moved HJT to a permanent folder on your hard drive as requested - will you please do so.

    Have you run VundoFix as requested in my post #4 and if so did it find anything?

    Have you run Ewido as requested in the same post?

    I need to know about VundoFix and to see the Ewido log which I asked you to post - otherwise I am working completely in the dark.

    Hello Pete,
    Sorry for the delay. I had been away for a few days. Here is the HJT log file. I have done as you said. I ran vundo but it found nothing. Ewido found some infected files. While installing ewido and later while trying to fix the infections, i looked for the options you told me about, but i could not find the options while installing or while trying to fix the infections. even remove option or button was not available. So iI have run Ewido after updating it in safe mode and fixed some infections. Pls find the HJT log file and the Ewido report below.

    My apologies - a new version has been released this week of which I was not aware and the installation procedure and interface has changed.

    Unfortunately you have not fixed anything with Ewido and will need to run it again. Here is the full set of revised instructions (no need to download Ewido again - set it up as outlined below and scan) ....

    Please download and install the 30 day trial version of Ewido Anti-Spyware

    Run the program either from the Desktop icon if you chose to install one or from Start > Programs. On the main screen select the Update icon followed by the "Update now" link and click on the Start Update button. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

    When the update has completed select the Scanner icon at the top of the window and click on the Settings tab.

    On the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then on Quarantine.

    Under Reports select Automatically generate report after every scan and deselect Only if threats were found.

    Close Ewido Anti-spyware. Do not run a scan just yet.

    Boot into Safe Mode and log onto your usual account.
    Do not open any other windows or programs while Ewido is scanning as this may interfere with the scanning proccess.

    Start Ewido Anti-spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop or from Start > Programs and select the Scanner icon at the top of the window followed by the Scan tab and click on Complete System Scan. The scanning process will start and may take some time.

    When the scan is complete if any infections were detected you will prompted for an action - select Apply all actions.

    Then select the Reports icon at the top of the window and click on the Save report as button in the lower left hand corner of the screen and save it as a text file (be sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).

    Close Ewido and reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post the Ewido scan report here.

    When I have cut the grass :) I will look at your HJT log and hopefully resolve the popups for you.

    Download Killbox to your desktop - do not attempt to run it yet.

    Boot into Safe Mode and run KillBox and select Delete on Reboot

    Copy this list of file locations to your clipboard ....

    c:\windows\system32\kvmzayg.exe

    Go to File > Paste from clipboard and Click All Files

    Press the button with a red circle with an X in it, then Yes when prompted to restart your computer.

    Reboot into Safe mode and scan (no logfile) with HJT and place a checkmark against these entries and click on Fix Selected....

    Your log is clean - are the problems resolved?

    This line 016-DPF: {EFB23983-5803-4914-ADA3-C0EA2CFFBDC37} - http://scripts.download3.com/binarie...cess/EGDACCESS does not appear in any of the HJT logs you posted.

    Turn off System Restore, reboot and turn it back on again. Some of your restore points will be inevitably infected - turning off System Restore will delete all the restore points.

    To turn off System Restore right click on My Computer > Properties > System Restore tab and place a check mark in the box alongside 'Turn off System Restore ....' To turn it back on remove the check mark.

    I had found this in the HJT files with the checkmarks. I have also deleted it as you told me to. I ran Ewido once again although not in safe mode. It did not show the dialer. Have deleted all traces of IE from the quarantine folder in Ewido. But IE takes a long time to open. Is this because i quarantined the IE folder? I will run the Ewido scan in safe mode and paste the results tomorrow.

    page scrolls by itself

    Hello Pete,
    Have turned system restore off and on. Ewido did not find the dialer again. The pop ups seem to have stopped. Thank you soooo much.:)

    IE takes a little while to open. Also, I have been having a problem with pages. The page scrolls down by itself. or sometimes it keeps jumping and I am not able to type in the textbox required. Is this also because of some spyware problem. This has become a common occurence.
    However, the pop ups are gone.

    Glad to hear that one problem is resolved :)

    If the scrolling problem is specific to Internet Explorer I suggest you run IEFix - a general purpose repair utility for IE.

    If the problem remains please start a new thread in the IE & OE forum.

    If the scrolling problem also occurs in other applications such as Windows Explorer, Word documents - in fact any window that has scroll bars then I would look at your mouse. Remove it through Device Manager and reboot to re-install it. If the problem persists try another mouse.

    Hello Pete,
    The problem is applicable only to IE and not to other applications as far as I know. Have tried IE Fix. I will definitely let you know if the problem has been resolved.
