When right clicking "Programs" from the start menu and choosing "Explore" or "Open" you can only view the folders within the "Programs" folder. Does anyone know if there is a way to view the files as well so that you can move them around and organise them without having to do it through the start menu?

    The files are stored here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Start Menu\Programs

    and here:

    C:\Documents and Settings\ALLUsers\Start Menu\Programs

I use windows explorer (start-e) and use folders view if it doesn't open in two panes. Be sure to fix tools > folder options > view tab to eliminate all aspects of hiding. Keep the tree of folders in the left pane and the contents (files and sub-folders on the right. You can drag and drop, cut and paste, with keyboard and/or mouse.

    Thanks All,

That helps a lot. One thing I did notice by using explorer to add, copy or move files and folders around is that it duplicates them when I look at the start/programs.

For example, in explorer I renamed the "Internet" folder to "Apps-Internet "...but on the start menu I now have both of those as folders if that makes sense.

If one uses the right mouse button, one gets a menu and can choose to move rather than copy.
