    Hey all

Is the upgrade xp sp2 version the same as a retail xp sp2 version ? Reason why i am asking is because I know you can boot from an upgrade version and do a clean install , Though you will have to enter your previous windows build license keys to activated the upgrade version , I'm just curious if the upgrade version need any other windows files from the previous windows version ? Or is it the same as a retail version ? Thx

Yes - with the proviso that you need to provide evidence of ownership of a previous Windows version if making a clean install by inserting a Win 98, Me. etc full install disk (not upgrade) when requested. No files are loaded from the 'old' CD.

Hey Pete ... So you actually need to insert the previous windows disk ? In my case its 98 , I thought it just the keys you need to insert ? But beside that then the upgrade version is identical as a retail version ?

Yes - it must be a full version, not upgrade.

    No
I can't answer that - never knowingly seen an OEM disk - I simply don't know. If the CD has the name of a computer manufacturer on it it is OEM for sure.

Suggest you post a new thread on this.
