I constantly receive the following error message ie "runner error invalid backweb application ID 137903" . It has no effect on my computer's operations but it's just irritating to alway see it. I read on another thread that I could eliminate this message by removing the Updates from HP program. I tried the standard Add/Remove routine and I get the message "invalid settings" and it will do nothing. Is there any other simple way to remove this program so I can make this error message "go away" permanently. Fwiw my computer is an HP Pavilion a250y purchased in 03.

    HP link didn't help

I have already read that HP link it says in part "You can uninstall the Updates from HP or Compaq Connections client software before using your spyware removal application:
Uninstall Updates from HP or Compaq Connections client software by clicking Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Updates from HP/Compaq Connections, and clicking the Remove button. "

I have tried to uninstall and I get the message "invalid settings" that I mentioned in my first message. The real question is how can I remove the Updates from HP if the Add/Remove Programs won't work. Also I don't want to do a "system restore ".

Since it is trying to load at startup, possible you can disable it from the startup group.... or check running services. You will not find it in Task manager because it can NOT be started so it will not be displayed. HP is insidious in it's desire to push questionable processes at a run status. The problem will be identifying the process / service you need to disable. Maybe you can find some hints in Event Viewer.

Not sure what check running services means or how to work with events viewer. I would just like to delete this HP Updates Program. Is using Add/Remove the only way to delete a program or is there another way. Apparently this program is corrupted and that is why I get the "invalid settings" message.
