    Hi ALL,

On a new PC, I have a clean install of Win XP along with SP 2 and all critical updates from Windows Update. I have Outlook Express set up for HTML for Mail Sending Format, and in the Compose Font setting I have 12 pt. Arial.

But whenever I creat a new e-mail, with the cursor sitting on a blank line, the font is set to 12 pt. Arial. But as soon as I start to type, it jumps to 12 pt. Times New Roman, which is what is used for the text. Then if I highlight the text and attempt to change it to Arial, I select it from the drop down list, but then it bounces right back to Time New Roman and the text is NOT changed.

EDIT!! I just tried it again, and now it is accepting 12 pt. Arial, which is good as that's what I want. BUT, even stranger, is now I can't change it to anything else but 12 pt. Arial!!

Does anyone know why its acting so strangly??!!

    Thanks,
    Gerry

    Hi PLansdowne,

    Yes it did!! Kind-of!!

On of my previous questions was that the fonts and type sizes in some web pages are locked by the web page itself and at my screen resolution was very small. The solution (found here at WindowsBBS) was to turn on the Accessibility settings to ignore web font selections and sizes. That worked perfectly.

However it now seems that those two options also control Outlook Express. As a compromise I turned off the "Ignore web fonts" but left the "Ignore web font sizes" on. This way I can still change fonts, but the font size will be locked to 12 which I can live with.

Thanks very much for pointing me to the other thread!
    Gerry
